Laser Security System by Engineer Rashid Ali

Laser Security System
Definition:
Laser security system is designed to detect intrusion – unauthorized entry – into a building or area. Security alarms are used in residential, commercial, industrial, and military properties for protection against burglary (theft) or property damage, as well as personal protection against intruders.
Working Principle:
A beam of light from laser strikes on LDR. As remains it strikes on LDR, alarm (Buzzer) will remain off. When any object cut off the path of laser light then light will not reach to LDR and Buzzer starts alarming and also LED glows.
Components:
1.    Battery 9v.
2.    Resistance 100 ohm & 6.8k ohm.
3.    LED (Light emitting diode).
4.    Buzzer.
5.    Transistor BT169.
6.    Capacitor 1u farad.
7.    LDR (Light depending resistance).
8.    Wires.
9.    Laser light.
10. (PCB) Vero Board.
Circuit Diagram:

     data-ad-format="auto"></ins>

First of all we take a resistance of 100 ohm and connect its one terminal with positive terminal of battery and its other terminal with positive leg of LED. And also a buzzer is connected in parallel combination to resistance & LED. Then the negative leg of LED connected to the emitter of transistor. According to circuit diagram we connect a resistance of 6.8k ohm with positive terminal of battery and with one leg of LDR. Then capacitor is connected in such a way that its positive terminal is connected with base of transistor & also with positive terminal of LDR. Then all of their remaining terminals (collector, capacitor, LDR) connected to the negative terminal of battery. As shown in circuit diagram.

Working:
A beam of laser light continuously striking on LDR, its resistance remains unchanged. Required voltage (3v) could not reach the buzzer & LDR so it remains off. But Whenever, any object cuts its path, laser light could not reach the LDR as a result, resistance of LDR is changed (increases) and a voltage greater than 3v is supplied to buzzer and it starts alarming, a red LED glows up as well. Here transistor acts as a switch. It controls the voltage supplied to buzzer & LED and capacitor is used to store the charges.
In this way any theft or unwanted object is detected easily. Buzzer keeps on alarming until we turn off power button.
Applications:
·      Laser security system is one of the advanced security systems used almost everywhere.
·      Use in banks , expensive jewelry shop, residential areas,  military, offices & homes.
Advantages:
·       Easily available components.
·       Simple in construction.

·       Cheap.

Excavator Crane, Mechanical Engineering Project made by Engineer Rashid Ali

This is how I made this Project

About 10 years ago when  I was in 6th class, I first time saw an Excavator Crane near my home. I observed that carefully, came to my home and  constructed such a mini Crane using wood, plastic & string.

Now after 3rd semester break vacations. I was sitting at the top of roof at home. Suddenly an idea came in my mind, why should not made it again. Then I repeat same method and principle (as used 10 years ago) of working with some improvements and advancements. Complete procedure is given as follows...

Construction:

  • I took three rectangular wooden strips one small and two large (same in length), having suitable length, width & thickness.

  • One Square and one rectangular wooden plates.

  • One iron metal sheet and cut bend to make bucket having teeth and fixed it in small wooden strip as shown in picture.

  • Now joined this bucket with one long wooden strip with moveable joint.

    •
      • This is further joined with other wooden strip.

      • An elastic rubber is used at both moveable joints to pull it back.

      • At 2nd joint rubber is adjusted in a different way, making a triangle, because greater moment arm requires less force to produce turning effect. It is quite easy to pull it back (As shown in picture).

      • Metallic wire is used to apply effort to move bucket and crane arm. below one is used to move bucket and upper one is used to move crane arm. (shown below in video)

      • A bike brake handle (cut in a suitable way) is used to control metallic wire.

      • Now  this part is connected with square wooden plate with the help of a moveable buckle of a belt.

      • Rectangular wooden is base on which whole crane moves horizontally freely . This plate is joined with this part with the help of a nail adjusted so that it can move freely along 360 degree.
      • Also connect  a long iron strip to control Boom And stick a coloured tape to get it colorful.

      • It has completed now.

      Working:

      • When handle is moved effort is applied here which is transmitted through metallic wire and moves the bucket downward.
      • Elastic rubber pulls it upward.
      • Moveable buckle (at base) is used to move the crane arm vertically up and down.
      • Square Wooden plate is used to move horizontally. In this way crane moves in 3-D.
      • watch the working when upper wire is clipped (closed).
      • watch the working when upper wire is opened.

      • Watch complete working here.

      • While lifting soil.

Thanks for watching my project, must give your views & comments & suggestions.

A good Engineer is one who Constructs such a device which is simple, beneficial and most of all cheap. I spent only Rs.30 on this project.

Thanks to my family who encourage, support & helped me to make this project.
Also Thanks all friends who appreciated  me.
